Small and Big Federico Garcia Lorca
Federico García Lorca (Fuente Vaqueros, 1898 · Camino de Víznar a Alfacar, 1936), was born in a small town in Granada. He published his first poems in prestigious magazines and began to gain popularity with Poemas del cante jondo and Romancero gitano. In 1929 he travelled to New York where he wrote his famous Poet in New York, an autobiographical work that reflected his sadness and loneliness. In 1936 the army staged a coup d'état and Lorca, who was considered a threat by the new regime, was arrested and, three days later, later shot. Federico García Lorca will always be remembered as the greatest contemporary Spanish poet and his death was a severe blow to the world of Spanish literature.
