Rudolf Nureyev was a classical dancer who was born in the Soviet Union and is considered one of the best dancers of the 20th century. A precocious dancer, he began his dance studies very late due to the Second World War. Recognized worldwide, he was able to leave his country to dancing in cities around the world. On one of these trips he asked for political asylum and settled in Europe. He was director of the Paris Opera Ballet, where he became a celebrity.
