Founded on March 14, 1962, at the behest of Prince Karim Aga Khan, the Consorzio Costa Smeralda was created with the aim of planning and balancing urban and residential development within the territorial boundaries of Costa Smeralda. Based in the heart of the village of Porto Cervo, the Consortium has been promoting the tourist destination for sixty years, while ensuring environmental protection of the area. Smeralda Holding, the largest member of the Consorzio Costa Smeralda, holds the majority and ownership of the most important hotels (Hotel Cervo, Hotel Pitrizza, Hotel Romazzino, Hotel Cala di Volpe), land, restaurants and shops on the Costa Smeralda.
