From the depths of matter, rise. FUSION OF MATTER, BIRTH OF SPIRIT. It's a pale moonlit night, a night toward the end of the 20th century, a night when the old world ends and the new begins. It's a night when one trembles as one dares to lower the sacred cross upon one's heart, to aid in the journey toward fatherhood. So, like a crucifix, that night I pick up Hyperion, a novel by Dan Simmons. It's a masterful science fiction saga that celebrates the endless legend of the French Jesuit priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, a 20th-century researcher, paleontologist, theologian, and philosopher. And I read, in peace, until the dawn's reflections, until the first golden rays of the East. I read the future of humanity, the celebration of transhumanism and the qualitative leap of humanity empowered by machines. Rarely have I loved a book so much, rarely have I loved a thinker so much. That night I read what a man thought he saw in the tombs of time. I am a lover of words at the service of materials when they come together to create poetry at the bottom of our bottles; so, a few years ago, I mentioned the work of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin to one of the last living remnants of the triumphant 20th century, and I asked him: "So, Teilhard de Chardin, precursor of genius?" A look, a silence and in response, four unexpected words, four words whispered by my father: “GHOST IN THE SHELL.” This is the act of birth that gives rise to the spirit of the perfume. The rest is poetry to experience on the skin. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin died in 1955, but his spirit continues to travel. This fragrance extends it through a partnership with Japanese artist Shirow Masamune to transcend the spirit of the Earth. By blending biotechnology and natural materials, this fragrance silently celebrates the trail of the future and also whispers of a day to come, by providence or chance, when humanity will reunite and organize. A day when all consciousness will be summoned by the infosphere to form a higher being and move from the inert to the living.
