Flamingos are among the most elegant and striking birds. Their name means "flame" or "flaming," a name given to them by the Egyptians because of their fiery red color, as they considered them a representation of Ra, the sun god. They are very long-lived birds, and among many other interesting facts, recent studies have observed that they form strong bonds of friendship with others of their species. The symbolism surrounding them and their unique anatomy have inspired the artists at Lladró to depict them in this creation: a pair of flamingos crafted in matte porcelain and decorated with a striking pink and gold luster. The result is a highly evocative piece with a distinctly contemporary character.
